Here's an image of Big Ben that was featured in the trailer for Hotel Transylvania. In this sequence, monsters from all over the world are coming to the hotel. So, we needed to create images from various well-known international locations.
What's also exciting is that our director, Genndy Tartakovsky, made a trip last weekend to Cancun, Mexico, to present 17 minutes of footage to the international press. The more stuff continues to come out about our movie, the more I can show you all a bit more.

ReplyDeleteSam, yes, this is my 2D painting. The final version that makes it to film is what is called two-and-a-half-D. This means my illustrations are projected onto computer generated geometry. The end result is an effect that has dimension and stereoscopic depth.
Ryan, they did use some 2D plates, but it's simply not feasible whenever the camera moves around, or when the characters interact directly with the background. So, most of our film is made with dimensional CG models. In this sequence, we purposefully locked off our cameras in order to do it.
