LET'S GET READY TO RRRUMBLE!

For those of you that don't know me, I'm a huge boxing fan. I did little fighting when I was a young man, and it's been in my blood ever since.

I did this sketch for a friend and mailed it to him via the Post Office. Of course I had to include the new Ray Robinson Commemorative stamp. Not that this is a drawing of Sugar Ray, but rather a just a drawing of a boxer giving it his all.

I used a little Prismapencil and watercolor.

Show us another view of the guy taking the beating!

There is alot of great motion and gesture to capture with boxers.

Awesome dude! I just saw that they have the CONTENDER on ITUNES, I watched a few of those shows, they were pretty good I thought, and I'm not hugely into boxing.

Hi Marcelo, Long time no see. It's great to see so much of your work again here and not just in my memories of the Wednesday night workshop over at WDI. Your work is inspiring as always.
By the way, -your last post of the plane for Lilo, I rember seeing that version animated and in color. It gave me goose bumps. What a shame it was cut. Fantastic drawing! This boxer is incredible too!

Hey Marcelo,

Thanks for stopping by:) Your opinion is very valuable to me, so I really appreciate the encouraging comment.

Love this image! Great character and nice composition and silhouette. The distorted body, makes me think of Ernest Watson, ....or rather his paintings!;)

Have a nice weekend,

Hans

Impressively free and sketchy. Nice change of pace, very much New Yorker material man.

stylized and still keeping the underlying muscle/structure. Great stuff, your basis and understanding of anatomy really shine through

Marcelo,
Thanks for commenting on my blog and thanks for adding me to your links. I'm honored and totally inspired. I learn so much from reading and looking at your blog. You are a great teacher and thanks for sharing your wisdom and insight with every post. I can only hope to be as talented as you one day.
This image by the way has such energy. I love this style and fantastic design. So fresh!! When I was young I wanted to try boxing but my mom wouldn't let me. Instead she bought me some ice skates. Thank god!

Wow, this one's great, very dynamic...the bare-hand systematic disarming of an opponent through intuition, agility, and startegy...boxing is incredible

Ah, that's why they call it the sweet science!
