Surprise!

Isn't it fun to discover artwork that you did, but can't remember doing?

Obviously a speed painting of a pirate, but aside from that the history is lost to the ages.

Wow! he really looks the part. Not the kind of fellow you want to share a boat with!

he kind of looks like you... bigger forehead. Maybe I just think you'd make a good pirate.

Cool stuff Marcelo! Must've been from the Dinga man days. What happened to that project???
Anywho, I'm taking the chance and moving out to L.A. (North Hollywood) the end of this month, finally!!! So it would be cool if we could meet up at some point when I get there.

Have a great weekend,

Thanks guys. Omar, I've got so much stuff. It's overflowing in my office, my office at work, my bookcases, under my bed, in my night table, boxes in the garage, in the shed.

Thanks Marcos. Hans and Armand. Yep, it was from our El Pacifico days.

Jed, it's a good thing you didn't say that to me face, or I'd have you hauled 'round the keel.

Hans, absolutely! When you're in town, give me a holler and we'll get together. Maybe for a round of sketchclub?

Hey Marcello,

Love the pirate! Looks like you had just finished reading Treasure Island with those gorgeous N. C. Wyeth paintings when you did this picture. Fabulous!

Thanks for the kind note on my blog! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I have some good news! I got a couple of pieces into the Society of Illustrators student annual and one other piece in the recent Creative Quarterly competition! It's pretty exciting, I must admit. And surprising.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. It's always great to hear from you! Talk to you soon.

Haha surprise drawings are definitely awesome, especially ones that look good still, after all the years of being lost!

this guy does look like a pirate through and through, and probably not someone to mess with! :D

will we be seeing more surprise drawings? *crosses fingers*

Hi Marcello, wonderful study. This pyrate has really a stronger expression.... I love also a lot your Handdrawn Postcards that you post some weeks ago. Always a pleasure to walk by here! Saludos from Barcelona!

Maybe you painted it while you were sleepwalking! Keep looking Moe there might be tons of this stuff youve done in your "other" state.

I never lived that!
I think I remember every draw I did.

I think.....

But sure it has to be funny! And strange!

I like a lot the colors of that one.

Marcelo!

Gotta say I am bummed not working (well...learning) at SPA with you guys. It is disappointing that it got cut short. Sketch club was fun, and I've still got lot of practice to do.

I wanted to check in and see what's going on. I'm diggin the pirate (I love finding old treasures) and the sketchclub characters, and the postcards...shoot...Everything.

I'd love to hear from you, hope you're doing well.

Best wishes,

-- Dano

Hi Marcos,
I wanted to follow up with you as we met in front of Manhattan Bagel last year. I'm the voiceover guy who was impressed with your drawings. I'm still hoping we can work together someday!
Wishing you continued blessings and success...
