As you know, our Sketchclub group goes out every Friday to draw in our sketchbooks. Marcos has been bugging me to post some of these sketchbook sketches, so I've gone ahead and put one up. This is taken directly from my sketchbook. This is how I laid it out on my page.
great marker stuff. Very fluid.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sketches Marcelo! Really simple and appealing and such nice linework :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic stuff!
ReplyDeleteNice character studies, Marcelo. Been ages since I've done anything "in situ", people watching. Great eye mate!

ReplyDeleteWow, great sketches Marcelo. Love the reading girl, she has a great expression on her face, as if she's reading something funny, giggling to herself. Would love to go on such Friday sketch sessions, It's been way to long since I opened my sketchbook. it's just a little hard to get motivated in a one-man sketch club!:(
ReplyDeleteLove where El Pacifico is going and can't wait for the fantasy part to kick in. I'm curious to see what you came up with???
Take care,
Hans

ReplyDeleteNice one !
ReplyDelete(hey, can we see some more...?)
-Marcos.
Nice flow to the individual drawings and the overall page Marcelo.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever come out this way, perhaps you can encourage some of the EAST members to grow a little backbone. I have been going out by myself just to get out and sketch for me.
MAC
ridiculous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always been impressed with how confident your lines are. You don't fiddle with it, you just lay it in there.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, thanks for the compliments.
ReplyDeleteI really do enjoy people watching as much as I enjoy people sketching. I like to imagine what they are thinking, or try to understand them. I realize that I'm not just studying their design, but their humanity too.
I sometimes try to imagine what a subject might have been like when they were younger, or what they will look like when they are older.
As far a drawing alone, yes -- I go off drawing all by myself; bring my sketchbook to places I shouldn't, and sneak Post-It notes and a pen into the bathroom. I guess that's makes me an addict.
Honestly, I had stopped. For years I had been drawing buildings and doing architectural watercolors in my sketchbook like a "real" artist. But, that all changed when I met Stephen Silver -- he got me hooked on drawing people again. Before I knew it we were sneaking off together as much as three times a week to draw people in our sketchbooks. We couldn't stop ourselves!
ooh, bravo marcello! :)
ReplyDeleteas i said before, great life drawings, very fresh and spontaneous.
Love doing that sort of thing! Great work! Nice to see some personality coming through in the interpretations!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketches! I love it when you post these! Not that I don't love your other posts..
