HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As some of you may or may not know, but I had a serious spinal operation on December 11th of 2009. I'm recovering well now, and am looking forward to 2010. As it is I spent a month a way from work trying to build up my strength and heal, and am only now returning to the office.

I had quite a bit of hardware surgically implanted into my back. In total I have seven screws, one titanium plate, cadaver bone, and two titanium rods. Suffice it to say, I was laid out on my back during Christmas and New Year. I did some sketching, and I drew this chap on New Year, imagining those days of yesteryear when men would dress up in Tuxedos to welcome the new year with lots of pomp. Why? I have no idea, it was just fun. I almost filled an entire sketchbook with lots of doodles.

I also got to spend quite a bit of time with my family, which was a tremendous blessing.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

You're a hero Marcelo :) This drawing looks beautiful and vibrant as usual. I know how annoying a month laid out on your back can be, but I'm sure you managed to distract from it enjoying the chance to spend so much time with your family!
Take good care of yourself now and get well soon.
All the best for the new year!

Very glad to hear you're doing better! I couldn't imagine how that must have felt, and to have the strength to almost fill an entire sketchbook, bravo. I hope there were some painkillers and wasn't too much pain involved... On a lighter note, I wonder if now you'll go off in metal detectors :P

Have a Happy healthy New Year!!!

Wow Marcelo! What an ordeal. I am glad you are able to see the blessing of spending time with your family and the small joys of filling a sketchbook in the midst of your recovery.

Your ability to find the positive in a difficult situation is inspiring. I wish you a quick return to health and a thriving 2010.

Wow yeah, I didn't even think about that, but very true. I remember you told about the Lilo $ Stitch scene and have seen some of the drawings where it's a plane instead of a space ship. With drawing comes great responsibility I guess:O.

Glad to hear your back is getting better:).

Have a nice weekend.
