Hey Marcelo! I meant to tell you I've been using those watercolor paints like you recommended. They are not only helping me make better color choices but I can feel it improving my hand coordination as well. Thanks for the tip.
You're bang on about the values, I'll pump them up. I picked up a packaged set from my local art store, I told the guy I didn't want student quality paints and he recommended M. Graham & Co as a cheaper alternative to the Windsor Newton artist line. On top of that I got flat and round tipped brush and a block of high quality cold press paper. I think I'm going to buy a block of hotpress and try it out but I hear its trickier to work with. What do you use?
I definitely prefer the flash tipped brush myself. I need to loosen up and actually paint instead of doing controlled washes. I get attached to my line-work and painting over it is hard for me to do haha. I found a tutorial by Peter de Seve online where he mentions a transfer technique for getting his linework onto the coldpress paper. I think having a duplicate would make me less concerned about losing the original pencils.
